National holidays mark different events, people, and forms of service. Independence Day celebrates U.S. independence from Britain and is associated with July 4, 1776. Other holidays honor leaders, workers, or historical changes. The holiday’s meaning matters more here than memorizing every calendar date.

Memorial Day remembers people who died in military service. Veterans Day honors people who have served in the military. These are related but different observances. When asked to name three holidays, give three different names from the accepted list; dates are not required.
