Well made, useful, the word selection is relevant. One can learn pinyin to English (one card side) and correlate to mandarin symbols (backside).
This set of flashcards is very useful for the beginner Chinese learner. You get over 50 of the most common words and a few phrases. On one side is the Chinese character and on the other side, both the pingyin pronunciation and the English meaning. The font used for the Chinese characters is very clear, and it is very large. This is very helpful. l You can use the cards to learn to read and recognize the characters. Just take them out when you have a couple of minutes to test your Chinese skills.
I'm learning mandarin- so I'm happy to use these. Great quality. Except for the repeat Ta. hehe.
These cards are just about "average playing card" size and feel. (So yes, they will slide if not on a level surface when you put them down!) In a VERY nice gesture towards storage, the box these come in has a lift-off top rather than being a fold you open. The case is hardened cardboard which is far less crushable than regular boxes for cards. LOVE the blue and white dragon pattern on the box! Gorgeous! One included card has the box pattern on it and a QR code listed as for "useful tips and articles" (it does not mention pronunciation, however). These cards have big fonts on them, so they are easy to read. The pronunciation guide is in red, with the meaning underneath that in black font. On the other side is Chinese writing (Zhōngwén). Chinese writing is an absolutely beautiful calligraphic writing! My kids are learning Chinese, and this is a fantastic set to go over the more frequently-used words/meanings with them. They have to learn the symbol meanings, too, after all! The price is about average for educational (particularly language) cards like this. HIGHLY recommend this set.
This set of flash cards looks like the pictures. It has some of the most common words to memorize, so it's a good tool to help memorize and practice those words. It is only useful if you are studying Chinese, taking a class or course somewhere, and use the flash cards as a short review for a short set of the most common words. I looked through all the cards and it doesn't have words for big, small, money, how much, the different countries or many of the other common basic vocabulary words that would be an absolute must to know. It only has some basic words like for I/me, you, people, the number 1 through 10, what, when, why, where, and some other words.Do not get this if you're looking for a complete set of vocabulary words or words that are in the HSK levels. It is only useful as another tool to help practice the very limited set of vocabulary words you need to learn when beginning to study Chinese. The cards themselves are good quality and it has a neat Chinese dragon design on the box. The size of the cards is fine, it feels like playing cards to me. Overall, the cards are nice, easy to read, and are useful for practicing some of the most essential words.
